1) Information we collect
- You provide it: name, email, phone, billing and shipping addresses; order details; messages you send us; and uploaded photos and customization notes used to create your artwork.
- Payment details: processed securely by our payment partners (e.g., Shopify Payments/PayPal). We do not store full card numbers.
- Automatically collected: IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, and interactions via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
- From partners: delivery updates from carriers, fraud-prevention signals, and marketing/analytics data where permitted by law.
2) How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Create and deliver your order (including using your uploaded photos to design custom portraits).
- Communicate with you about orders, proofs, approvals, and support.
- Operate, analyze, and improve our website, products, and services (e.g., debugging, analytics, personalization).
- Marketing with your consent or where permitted (you can unsubscribe any time).
- Security & fraud prevention and to comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases (EU/UK customers). We rely on: performance of a contract (to fulfill your order); legitimate interests (to run and secure our services); consent (email marketing/cookies where required); and legal obligations.
3) User content (uploaded photos)
- Purpose. We use your photos and notes solely to design and produce your artwork and to manage related customer support.
- Retention. Proof files and source images are typically kept for 90 days after delivery (to handle reprints/issues) unless you request earlier deletion. Final, printed artwork order records (not your source photos) may be retained longer for accounting/legal reasons.
- Use limits. We do not use your images for advertising or training models without your explicit consent. You can ask us to delete your photos at any time.
4) Cookies & similar technologies
We use necessary cookies to make the site work and (with consent where required) analytics and advertising cookies for measurement and personalized offers. You can manage preferences via Cookie Settings (browser controls may also be used, though some features might not work without cookies).
5) Sharing your information
We don’t sell personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers/“processors” under contract (e.g., ecommerce platform, payment processors, print/fulfillment partners, shipping carriers, customer support, email service, analytics, and anti-fraud tools).
- Legal and safety reasons (to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect rights).
- Business transfers (e.g., merger or acquisition), in which case we’ll notify you where required.
6) Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose collected:
- Orders & invoices: up to 7 years (tax/audit laws).
- Support emails/chats: typically 2 years.
- Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe or your consent is withdrawn.
- Uploaded photos/proofs: typically 90 days after delivery (see §3).
We may retain limited logs as needed for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
7) Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data; object to or restrict certain processing; and withdraw consent at any time (this won’t affect earlier lawful processing).
- Canada (PIPEDA): request access/correction and challenge our compliance.
- EU/UK GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, and complaint to your local Data Protection Authority.
- California (CPRA): know/access, correct, delete, opt-out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, and limit use of “sensitive” information (we don’t collect sensitive data for advertising).
How to exercise your rights: email support@artventures.co with your request and the email used on your order. We may verify your identity (and requests via authorized agents where applicable). We aim to respond within the timelines required by law.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: If you are a California resident and wish to opt out of “selling” or “sharing” (for targeted ads), contact us at support@artventures.co or use our Cookie Settings to disable advertising cookies.
8) International transfers
We operate from Canada and may process data in other countries (e.g., the U.S., EU/UK) where our providers are located. We use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers (such as contractual protections).
9) Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to continuously improve our protections.
10) Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to delete it.
11) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, technical, or operational reasons. We’ll post the new version with an updated Effective date. Material changes will be highlighted where required.
